Thanks for the heads up, SkekTek – I ordered from their website, and I couldn't see anything there about smaller burger sizes.

THe size thing overall, though, is a general commentary to all burger places (Grill'd and Urge included). I love the "Queenslander" flavour combo, but they're always made so big! Maybe a "mini-queenslander" is wishful thinking on my part – or perhaps I just need to share my Queenslanders with friends from here out!

I will be sure to give B'Urge's mini size a go, but I'll try to get to the Purple Gorilla and Beastie Burgers too :D

You guys do realise that Burger Urge do a smaller burger don't you? Why order the biggest burger on the menu in the large size then strike a point against it for the sheer size? If you order the mini burgers (which are about the size of Grill'd burgers) then you get a burger suited to regular appetities.

Dylan you are hilarious!
We all must get to BB and PG stat! people are raving so it's time to try 'em.

I personally think Burger Urge would have won if the burger wasn't so goddamn soggy and MASSIVE. 3/4kg!! The taste was pretty yummy!

Oh, HELLZ no! Grill'd is the most consistently disappointing burger I've had. They're hard to eat, they're not overly flavourful and their sauces are either soapy or meh. But people *love* them like crazy! I'm certain it's because they want to buy into the marketing... 'Hey, you're a hipster... Our burgers make your fast food *much* more epic then Micky'Ds"

And even here... Burger Urge won 3 of 5 categories but Grill'd won overall?

I have to say thought, that Purple Gorilla beats the hell out of all the others in Brisbane. As for Beastie Burgers at Southbank... Um... Nice Signage?

Seriously, have to disagree with Grill'd. I've had 5 now, from 5 different stores, and they've all been boring, clumsily executed and uninspiring. Burger Urge was better, but P.G just blows them all away.

Maybe you've just got a Northside bias *{Wink}*

Thanks Cook Clean Craft – I think it'll be really interesting to see whether Burger Urge makes the move to the suburbs anytime soon.

Does anyone have any inklings as to whether this is on the books?

One thing in Burger Urge's favour is the sheer number of gourmet burger options they have. Everything on their menu sounds delicious. I've eaten a few of the different types, and just want to keep going back for more. Yes, the burgers are huge, but somehow I always manage to get through them. Grill'd, on the other hand, has a much more traditional and limited menu, in my opinion. They both have their place, but I miss Burger Urge more than Grill'd now that I've moved further out into the 'burbs.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone – I will be sure to do a followup with Purple Gorilla and Beastie Burgers! :D (This is really just a heck of a good excuse to eat more burgers!)

I'm totally with you on the portion size issue! My favourite less gourmet burger joint in Melbourne, Lord of the Fries, offers 2-3 burger sizes. The smaller ones are especially good for a snack on the run or for when I prefer to focus on the chips. :-)
